Today is the 20th anniversary of the Bhopal disaster. A link to a story about it (sorry, but it's in the Spiegel so in German...the english speaking press doesn't seem to have noticed this anniversary): http://www.spiegel.de/panorama/0,1518,330738,00.html

The article points out that the injuries from the gas leak contine to kill: about 30 people per month die of injuries incured from the gas leak. Dow, which now owns Union Carbide, continues to do very little either to compensate the victims or to clean up the site.

Carolyn Toll Oppenheim

Ruth Waterman was not a Hiroshima survivor. She was a Holocaust survivor--a hidden child during the war in which her parents both died in Auschwitz. When she heard about Bhopal she immediately identifed with the survivors (and identified the victims with the family she lost). I will be writing more about her and posting images of her art work shortly on www. icjb.org
